Who We Are/What We Do
The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is Madison and Dane County’s official destination management organization.
The objective of the GMCVB is to increase visitor volume and spending by bringing convention, event and leisure business to the area.
Why This Topic Matters To The GMCVB
In America’s heartland, the Madison area is a culinary oasis. Madison is a rich blend of local eating establishments, fine dining options, and diverse ethnic cuisine.
To Madison’s restaurants, “buying local” means quick and easy access to the area’s abundant produce and organic ingredients. Local dining has never tasted so fresh, so distinct and, sometimes, so “un-local!”
It’s almost impossible to start talking about Madison restaurants without beginning with the Farmer’s Market. It is woven into Madison’s culinary tapestry.
Farmer’s Market – A Madison Tradition - Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Capitol Square is a Saturday and Wednesday tradition in Madison, Wisconsin. You’ll find the season’s best bounty of vegetables, flowers, and specialty products from approximately 300 vendors throughout the year. About 150 vendors attend every Saturday. All of the agriculturally related items are produced in Wisconsin.

L’Etoile Restaurant passionately supports Wisconsin farmers and feature local, organic and naturally raised ingredients on all menus. In following food from the farm to the plates they serve, L’Etoile has learned that respect for the land and a thoughtful relationship between people and their environment is vital to thriving cultures.
L’Etoile supports artisan traditions, local farmers, and local farmers markets, and cultivates their own Wisconsin slow food heritage that embraces seasonal eating.

The Old Fashioned is inspired by the traditions of Wisconsin taverns and supper clubs and pays tribute to the foods and spirits that make up Wisconsin’s heritage. With the same owners as Harvest Restaurant, the philosophy of working with local farmers for produce, meats and cheeses remains the same. A commitment to local producers and traditions, and a nod to time-tested recipes, the original menu embodies Wisconsin's rich culinary history including Scandinavian Style Chicken Dinner, Lake Perch Fish Fry, Prime Rib Dinner and Walleye and Eggs
