During the Civil War, Camp Randall was the site of Wisconsin's largest military training ground. After the war ended, veterans from the Grand Army of the Republic fought to build a memorial park there to honor their fallen comrades. In this illustrated talk, Daniel Einstein, historic and cultural resources manager at UW-Madison, untangles the legends and mysteries linked to the "loose" cannons, the memorial arch, and the prison guard house at Camp Randall Memorial Park. Bring a lunch to this informal lunch-and-lecture series.
