GMCVB
The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is the greater Madison area's official destination marketing organization. The GMCVB is responsible for attracting new destination events to the community, as well as providing service and support to existing and repeat events, and providing comprehensive information to visitors to the area.
The GMCVB is an officially accredited destination management organization, as determined by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). In earning this accreditation, DMAI affirms that the GMCVB has attained a significant measure of excellence. In early 2009, the GMCVB was named among the world's best, according to hundreds of meeting and event planners that voted for the Planner's Choice Awards given by MeetingNews.
Tourism is one of the top three industries in Wisconsin, supporting thousands of jobs and generating millions in tax revenues. In 2010 visitors spent more than $1.187 billion in Dane County, directly supporting 19,574 full-time equivalent jobs. (Source: Davidson- Peterson Associates)
