What is the GMCVB?

The Greater Madson Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) is the official destination manager and leader of Madison and Dane County.  Our goal is to increase visitor volume and spending by bringing convention, event and leisure business to the area. 

Our Convention Sales Managers work with local, regional and national based meeting planners and organizers to bring event and convention business to our area while marketing efforts for the demographic targeted for leisure visitors encompasses those within a 5-hour drive radius and focuses on women ages 35-55, who are highly educated with a tie to Madison either through the University of Wisconsin-Madsion, friends or as a former resident.        

 

How is the GMCVB funded? 

The GMCVB receives funding from several sources:       

 City of Madison (derived from "TOT" or Transient Occupancy Tax, a.k.a hotel room tax)  63%
 Program Revenues   14%
 Partnership Revenue       10%
 Dane County  10%
 Area Municipalities (derived from "TOT" or Transient Occupancy Tax, a.k.a. hotel room tax)  3%

                                      

                                

                                                   

 

                                                          

How does the GMCVB enhance our community?

Tourism ia a billion dollar industry for Dane County. The economic benefit that visitors bring to our area translates into resident income, job creation and continued enhancement of the quality of life we all enjoy.  In addition, this visitor economy sustains 30,000 area jobs.

The GMCVB's goal is to increase visitor volume and spending by continuing to bring convention, event and leisure business to Madison and Dane County.  Accomplishing this goal results in increased, optimum levels of visitor traffic and maximum generation of visitor dollars.
