America’s Fittest City

Canoecopia

Madison’s dedication to health and wellness is being recognized—Fitbit recently ranked Madison as America’s Fittest City! Madison is passionate about active living and hosts many sporting events, shows and expos throughout the year. If you love lakes, visit during Canoecopia, one of the largest paddlesports consumer events in the world, March 10-12 at Alliant Energy Center. This event is overflowing with kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards and outdoor equipment. Also scheduled that weekend is the Midwest Bicycle Show and Sale, a chance to comparison shop and test ride many bike brands. Then hop on your bike and ride our 200 miles of trails—Madison is one of only five cities in the U.S. to receive Platinum status by the League of American Bicyclists.

BEST CITY FOR FAMILIES

Ice Cream Kid's Cafe

Madison is 100 percent family friendly—in fact, Parenting magazine rates Madison one of the best cities for families. From city favorites like the Wisconsin State Capitol and Henry Vilas Zoo, to indoor options like Kids in the Rotunda and the Madison Science Museum, Madison has several free options for families. Or visit during the Madison Kids Expo, March 4-5. The kids can get close and personal with snakes and lizards, burn off extra energy in bouncy houses, or master the rock climbing wall. Other family events in March include the Natural Family Expo and Kids’ Art Adventures.
