Looking for free family fun? Head to the Henry Vilas Zoo--one of the only free zoos in the nation--where you can see more than 800 animals from all over the world!

For even more natural fun, take a tour of the spectacular Cave of the Mounds, a 400 million year old cavern that is considered to be one of the most exceptional natural sites in the country.

Go from taking a tour to taking them out to a ballgame--the Madison Mallards minor league team plays June through August and offers exciting game play plus fun for the entire family!


Things to Do
If your little ones like to be active, they'll love the Madison Children's Museum featuring interactive exhibits and activities, from Possible-opolis^TM to the Rooftop Ramble. Keep feeding their creativity with a stop into Studio, You Paint It Pottery, a walk-in studio that specializes in pottery painting and parties.

Or, depart for a full day of family fun aboard the Midcontinent Railroad, a memorable, seven-mile ride on a former branch line of the Chicago & North Western Railway. The 55-minute round-trip ride takes passengers through the picturesque Baraboo Hills and features tons of living history lessons.

With trains on the brain, you're sure to enjoy Ella's Deli & Ice Cream Parlor, a children's wonderland complete with a circus atmosphere, flying puppets and a moving toy railroad overhead. Seasonally, you can step outside to enjoy Madison's only full-sized carousel!
