Musical High Notes
Madison's diverse community and college town atmosphere lends itself to eclectic music: rock headliners on stage, classical music on the Capitol lawn, and local bands in scenic spaces.
Quintessential Madison Music
Head to the Capitol on Wednesday nights for inspiring music from the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at Concerts on the Square. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic dinner and dine on the lawn of the beautiful Capitol building as our downtown comes alive with music.
The Memorial Union Terrace is positioned right on Lake Mendota and is a local hangout. Grab a beer and lounge on one of the Terrace's brightly colored chairs while listening to local bands. Concerts happen five nights a week and their Terrace After Dark music and film schedule is available online.
For dancing, visit Monona Terrace during Concerts on the Rooftop or Dane Dances—both feature music on the rooftop with lake views. Grab your favorite dance partner and prepare to dance the night away!
This summer, Overture Center for the Arts showcases music icons like John Mellencamp, Indigo Girls, Elvis Costello, Hall and Oats, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. All of these artists, along with Broadway shows, classical concerts and more, are on the 2015 schedule.
