Exploring Madison Museums

Start your day of by touring the Wisconsin Historical Museum (30 N. Carroll St - 608.264.6555), located directly on Madison's Capital Square.  This tour is full of wonderful information about Wisconsin's history, and is a great way to start your day!  Enjoy artifacts, photographs and interactive multimedia programs as you learn about the history of Wisconsin.

After learning all about Wisconsin, head off to learn about those who have served for our country at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum (30 W. Mifflin Street - 608.267.1799).  The Veterans Museum highlights important events, offers educational programs and holds hundreds of books, photographs and archival collections for you to enjoy on your visit.

If you have children with you on your tour this next museum is exactly what you are looking for!  Take a short walk to State Street to the Madison Children's Museum (100 N. Hamilton Street - 608.256.6445).  The Madison Children's Museum offers hands-on exhibits and programs that are designed to inspire learning through play.  

Stop by the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum to take a look into Wisconsin's deep history (1215 West Dayton Street, Madison WI).  While you're touring this museum you will be able to touch rocks from when there were volcanoes in Wisconsin, examine sea creatures that used to roam this area, get a glimpse of the dinosaurs that roamed at one time and view many other rocks and minerals from Wisconsin.

To enjoy some of Madison's great art displays take your tour to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (227 State St - 608.257.0158) or the Chazen Museum of Art (800 University Ave - 608.263.2246); both conveniently located right off State Street in downtown Madison.
