More About the Event

The main thing that makes this golf tournament unique? It’s organized into 38 teams of two, making for fun camaraderie and a fresh format that spectators can enjoy. The top 38 players based on PGA Tour Champions eligibility standards get to handpick their partners. And the stakes are high—they’re competing for a $3 million purse.

As a 54-hole competition that takes place over three days, the championship extends well beyond tournament play with an entire week of related events and experiences. While the 2026 schedule continues to be finalized, past tournaments have included a Saturday  “Celebrity Foursome,” hosted by professional golfer Andy North. More details are expected in the months ahead.

In addition, the golf tournament partners with the American Family Children’s Hospital, which receives approximately half of tournament proceeds. Every year, the tournament identifies a patient to feature, who gets a front-row seat for the opening ceremony and even takes an honorary first tee shot. Since 2016, the American Family Insurance Championship has provided nearly $22 million to the American Family Children’s Hospital along with local nonprofits.
