They tell stories all by themselves; people need not even be mentioned. They are powerful and humble, the mighty workhorses of generations.  Doolies and diesels, Fords and Chevys and the venerable Dodge Ram. Big trucks and car trucks (the famous Ford Ranchero and my father’s daily driver, the Chevy el Camino), for farm work and hunting, hauling and towing, these muscle-built machines reveal art and beauty that is all their own. The very first was built by Henry Ford (of course), his 1925 Model T Runabout, Willys built the first Four Wheel Drive model (1947) and in 1959, Datsun introduced the Compact Truck to its American customers; later came heavy-duty and light-duty, the Cummins Diesel and the crew cab. Trucks for every chore and exercise, on and off the road.

The entries come from every era, all with stories, all with history; vintage automobiles of every make and model, and all displayed against the lush backdrop of this breathtaking vineyard at the height of the growing season. It is truly summer’s best chance to revel in the aesthetic allure of vintage auto-motion. The Vintage Celebration is a day replete with extraordinary sights and once-in-a-lifetime photo moments, incredible picnic food, Primitive Culture live on the terrace 11a – 4p; outdoor wine service, family, friends and so much more.  Adult admission is just $10, children under 12 are admitted free of charge with an accompanying adult. Picnics welcome, no carry-in alcohol and no pets, no exceptions. Spectator parking is free and plentiful. Botham Vineyards is a smoke-free venue, buildings and grounds. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m. Pre-2000 vehicles of any make and model are welcome to register.
