With only a single performance, Beyond the Score® at Overture Hall is an absolute must-see. Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5 was deemed a musical celebration to the end of World War II; it depicts Prokofiev’s experiences in America and how his outlook on music changed upon his return to the Soviet homeland after the war. This performance is a two-part production of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; the first half includes a multimedia presentation starring American Players Theatre actors, visual projections and live musical examples. In the second half, John DeMain ventures straight into the heart of music with a rendition of Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5. Student rush tickets are available for $15-20 at the Overture Center Box Office on the day of the concert.
