Ever Gleaming: Curator Talk

Join Joe Kapler, lead curator at the Wisconsin Historical Society, for a special curator talk in the Wisconsin Historical Society's popular holiday exhibit, Ever Gleaming: 60 Years of America’s Aluminum Christmas Tree, which returns this year in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the aluminum Christmas tree!

In 1959, the Aluminum Specialty Company of Manitowoc, Wis, introduced the Evergleam aluminum Christmas tree. In the decade that followed, aluminum trees became wildly popular in American homes, and the Evergleam was the most popular of all. This year's exhibit features original trees, images, and artifacts from 1959; a replica living room from the trees’ 1960s heyday; and a spotlight on the rare trees that collectors seek out today. Kapler will put the debut of the Evergleam into the context of the world in 1959.
