What if our concepts for describing the environmental violence are wrong, because they were made by the same systems that generate violence? In this Humanities Without Boundaries talk presented in partnership with the Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies and the Andrew W. Mellon Sawyer Seminar, historian and feminist science and technology studies scholar Michelle Murphy addresses this question by focusing on one of the oldest refineries in North America, which sits on Anishinaabe land and mirrors the history of Canadian settler colonialism.
Michelle Murphy is a professor of History at the University of Toronto.
