Violinist James Ehnes collaborates with the Madison Symphony Orchestra. Ehnes, an internationally-known virtuoso of the violin, performs among some of most respected venues on the planet, including London, New York, Berlin, and many more.
John DeMain and the MSO masterfully display Mussorgsky’s titular behemoth of a composition, whereas Ehnes’ contributions to Brahms’ Violin Concerto bring out a level of expertise DeMain can only describe as “consummate”. Additionally, the MSO presents Harbison’s The Most Often Used Chords, its debut in the Madison Symphony Orchestra; the event celebrates the 80th birthday of Harbison, a resident in the Madison area.
Summatively, Pictures at an Exhibition offer stellar renditions of excellence offered up by these composers and are further reinforced by the talent behind their performance in the Overture Hall.
