OVERVIEW
Homeschool Students: join us for this 4-week dive into the interactions between art and nature! Participants will attend this rain-or-shine class that meets outdoors. Together, we will learn about a process, plant, or animal unique to Wisconsin each week. Art processes of all kinds will be explored with creative flexibility applied. Students will also learn about artists who use and give back to nature through their artistic practice, and how they can do the same.
Laurel Statz, the instructor for this class, is a born-and-raised South Wisconsinite well-versed in both art and Southern Wisconsin's rich ecosystem. She is also a homeschooling alum. Laurel will lead students in explorative exercises and projects based on them.
This class will meet outdoors at different natural sites within a 15-minute drive of Art Lit Lab (111 South Livingston Street).
Students need not have prior experience in art or nature; that said, students from any background in these subjects will learn something about the environment and art around them.
