WYSO Percussion Extravaganza

The Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras present the 24th annual Percussion Extravaganza, an exciting afternoon of rhythm, color, and high-energy performance.

Led by WYSO Percussion Director Vicki Peterson Jenks, the concert features the WYSO Percussion Ensemble, the University of Wisconsin–Madison Chamber Percussion Ensemble, the UW World Percussion Ensemble, and guest artists Heartland Marimba, an Iowa-based ensemble dedicated to advancing the classical marimba repertoire.

The program showcases a wide range of contemporary percussion music performed on marimbas, vibraphones, drums, and a variety of percussion instruments, bringing together youth musicians, university performers, and professional artists for a unique collaborative performance.

This year’s event is presented in partnership with WayForward Resources, with a portion of proceeds supporting their work addressing food and housing insecurity in the Madison area.

Admission is pay-what-you-can, with suggested contributions of $15 for adults and $5 for students. Free tickets are also available to ensure the event remains accessible to everyone.
