My name is Oscar Villarreal. I am the Executive Chef and Visionary at Fuegos.
What are the top 3 things our readers should know?
- We support local business and clean eating, and we never use processed foods.
- We are an LGBTQ+ and minority safe space.
- There is something for everyone to eat. Vegan and carnivores, of course, but also gluten-free, dairy-free or any other dietary restriction.
When you're not working, what does your ideal day in Madison look like?
Wake up and feed Max, our Dalmatian, and enjoy a coffee while watching my chickens eat. I go exercise and usually find a local place to eat lunch. When I can find the time, I also like to go out on the water, enjoy time with friends and family, and grill out with my mom and dad.
When/why did you decide to work in the hospitality industry?
When I was 22-years-old, I quit working for a factory because I couldn't stand the repetitive work. I decided to wash dishes at Red Geranium in Lake Geneva because they had an apprenticeship to learn how to be a chef.
Why do you partner with Destination Madison?
We like to be involved in the community and Destination Madison is "the" event place for Madison.
