Three people have a picnic around the State Capitol

It’s no secret that Madison is full of things to do in the summer – and we’ve got the list to prove it! Whether you want to embrace the outdoors with a visit to some of our 200+ parks, explore area attractions and museums with the whole family, or spend the evening listening to live music… our list of 99 Things to Do this Summer will help build your itinerary. Why not make it a challenge to check off as many activities as you can? After all, summer does only come around once a year!

On the Lakes

Beachgoers enjoy partly sunny day on one of Madison's lakes

Life is better on the water! Situated between lakes Mendota and Monona, Madison is home to five lakes (Wingra, Waubesa and Kegonsa round out the list) and a wide array of water activities. Start your day with a peaceful paddle at Wingra Boats, then lounge at the beach, or grab your bike to loop the lake. End your day with dinner at a waterfront spot, or aboard a Betty Lou Cruise. Enjoy live lakeside entertainment with Concerts on the Rooftop or catch an outdoor movie at The Wisconsin Union.
