Exploring Madison Museums

Start your day off on Madison's Capitol Square for a tour of the Wisconsin Historical Museum. This tour is full of wonderful information about Wisconsin's history, and is a great way to start your day!  Enjoy artifacts, photographs and interactive multimedia programs as you learn about the rich history of our state.

After learning all about Wisconsin, head off to learn about those who have served for our country at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.  The Veterans Museum highlights important events, offers educational programs, and holds hundreds of books, photographs and archival collections for you to enjoy on your visit.

If you have children with you on your tour, this next museum is exactly what you are looking for! Take a short walk to the award-winning Madison Children's Museum where you'll discover hands-on exhibits and programs that are designed to inspire learning through play.

Or, stop by the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum to take a look into Wisconsin's deep history. This museum tour allows you to touch rocks from when there were volcanoes in Wisconsin, examine sea creatures and get a glimpse of the dinosaurs that once roamed this area, and view many rocks and minerals from Wisconsin.

To enjoy some of Madison's amazing art displays and collections, take your tour to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art or the Chazen Museum of Art. Both are conveniently located right off State Street in downtown Madison.

Once you've enjoyed some of the great Museums downtown Madison has to offer, take the short drive to Middleton and tour the National Mustard Museum. You're sure to find a mustard you love after browsing the 5,000 different types of mustards from all 50 states and over 60 different countries! Confidential Condiment Counselors will help you sample hundreds of different mustards and other condiments, and the gift shop offers lots of creative gifts including "Poupon U" souvenirs.
