In Madison, winter is another season full of outdoor adventure. The lakes freeze over and are transformed into a cold weather playground and festivals pop up along the shoreline (and even on the ice!). Bundle up and join us outside for magical, snow-covered fun.

Frozen Assets Festival

A 5K held entirely on the ice? That’s how Frozen Assets Festival, happening February 4 & 5 at The Edgewater and Lake Monona, starts. After the race, stick around for lots of family-friendly activities both on the ice and at The Edgewater Plaza. Pro Tip: Stay at The Edgewater for a front row seat to the action.

Winter Carnival

From February 6-11, join in the fun at the Wisconsin Union’s Winter Carnival. This long-standing cold weather tradition features activities like a freestyle skiing and snowboarding contest, snowshoeing, mini golfing on the ice, hot cocoa, and Lady Liberty.

Bockfest

For over 25 years, Capital Brewery has celebrated Bockfest with beer, bands, food and more. Rain, snow, sleet or shine, head out to Middleton on February 25 to experience the magic of a winter beer festival.

Whether you’re cheering on the frozen lake 5K or getting a hole in one at frozen mini golf, Madison is the place to be to embrace the cold weather this season.
