8th Annual Lake Blessing at Wingra Boats

Before we officially open our season, Wingra Boats takes a moment each year to honor the water, the land, and the incredible gift they are to us all. We gather to ask for a safe, joyful season full of wonder and adventure on the water.
We reside on the ancestral land of the Ho-Chunk Nation. We have the opportunity and responsibility to continue honoring and respecting their land and waters. We encourage all of our guests to recognize our shared responsibility. This year, we are deeply honored to be joined by Thomas Redbird and his family.
As members of the Water Spirit Clan of the Ho-Chunk Nation, the Redbird family will lead us in a tobacco ceremony and a lake blessing, offering a chance to reflect on our connection to the natural world and practice deep respect for the waters and land we share. The Ho-Chunk Nation continues to honor their oral traditions, passing down knowledge by word of mouth, and the Redbird family will be available to answer questions before and after the ceremony.
Please join us in this meaningful ceremony as we bless Wingra Lake and officially kick off the paddle season with the Redbird family.

Enjoy complimentary bagels and coffee as we celebrate together- 8:30 am
Lake Blessing: 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Spring Season Begins: 10:00 am
