Exploring Common Ground on Guns

201 State St.
Madison, WI 53703
OVERVIEW

Many people believe that bipartisan solutions to reduce gun violence are impossible. Wisconsinites from across the political spectrum disagree and, despite an overwhelmingly divisive political climate, are taking a stand. In partnership with Builders, a nonpartisan movement to overcome toxic polarization, these citizens will host a film screening and panel discussion exploring the hidden common ground on one of America's most polarizing issues. This event comes three months after a shooting at Madison's Abundant Life Christian School.

In The Tennessee 11, a gripping feature-length documentary that has never before been screened in the Badger State, citizens with different perspectives will prove that solutions are possible. Afterwards, local leaders, including government scholar and director of the Marquette Law School Poll, Charles Franklin, and nationally-recognized changemaker, entrepreneur, and speaker Steven Olikara, will join two people from the film for a lively discussion that will disrupt binary thinking and inspire Wisconsinites to move forward together.
