Introduction to Oil Painting

221 King St. Suite 102
Madison, WI 53703
OVERVIEW

About the class:

With Wisconsin artist Kim Strittmater, you will embark on an introductory journey into all things oil painting during a three and a half hour course inside Carnelian Art Gallery's beautiful open studio space. This course has 12 spots, and includes an hour-long lecture/demonstration to start. Students will then paint under Strittmater's supervision for the rest of the course. The experienced or novice artist is encouraged to take this course.

About the instructor:

Kim is an artist living on the Wisconsin River. She finds inspiration in the natural world around her. She is fortunate to be near ancient land that has been carved by glaciers and is surrounded by healing waters, which she often goes to for grounding and reflection. Her style of painting blends the fluidity and emotion of impressionism with the detail and accuracy of realism, creating artworks that capture the intricacies and elevate the essence of her chosen subjects. She is particularly drawn to painting humans, animals, and plants. These subjects offer opportunities to explore connection with the viewer, while examining nature’s design. She is obsessed and appreciative, and continues to experiment, develop, and discover her voice.
