Festge County Park

OVERVIEW
Festge County Park was established in 1963 after Otto and Evelyn Festge generously donated the original acreage for this park. It is located in the Driftless Area (unglaciated area) of Dane County and offers a scenic view 100 feet above the Black Earth Creek Valley in the Town of Berry -- one of the more spectacular views in the county. The park contains 155 acres of beautifully wooded parkland with hiking trails winding through a mature stand of hickory and oak trees. Other features include two shelter facilities, play equipment and shaded areas for family picnics. A natural history marker explains the area’s glacial geology. Future plans for Festge County Park include development as a trail link into the Ice Age National Scenic Trail system. The park entrance is located on Scherbel Road, 1.5 miles west of the Village of Cross Plains and north of USH 14. Nearby Salmo Pond is adjacent to Black Earth Creek south of USH 14, and offers shoreline fishing, an accessible fishing pier and picnic areas
