OVERVIEW
Another lovely pocket park is Frost Woods Beach on Lake Monona’s Squaw Bay. The entrance is in the 5800 block of Winnequah Road and there’s a small parking lot on site. It’s a heavily wooded park with a small, sandy beach, good for picnicking and swimming. During the winter, many ice fishermen use Frost Woods Beach to get out onto the ice. Please note: There is no lifeguard on duty, and the area is not monitored for water quality. Swim at your own risk. A kayak / canoe rack is available at Frost Woods Park for Monona residents to store their boats during the boating season (May 1 to October 31). The fee to rent a space on this rack is $60 / season. To inquire about renting a space, please call the Monona Park and Recreation Office at 608-222-4167.
