The Monona Terrace® Community & Convention Center recently earned esteemed LEED Gold Certification for sustainability efforts in the Operations & Management of its Frank Lloyd Wright-designed facility. Learn more about their accomplishments, including operating with an energy use rating that is 27% below that of similar facilities nationwide, and a water usage level 46% below the LEED benchmark!. Monona Terrace is one of the first existing convention centers in the U.S. to receive a certification, and the only silver level certified convention center in the U.S. Monona Terrace is also recognized as a Travel Green Wisconsin Member by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism for continuing to improve operations in order to reduce environmental impact.
ALLIANT ENERGY CENTER
In April 2007, The Alliant Energy Center was the largest organization in Madison to receive Travel Green Certification for its efforts to help build sustainable tourism in Wisconsin through its use of green space on Willow Island and environmentally friendly purchasing practices The Alliant Energy Center also partnered with Johnson Controls to implement energy-saving measures in Exhibition Hall, which include energy-efficient lighting and upgrades to reduce gas emissions.
