Madison in the fall is something special. The leaves begin to change colors, we're pulling out our sweaters for fall festivals and visiting pumpkin patches, and all of our favorite fall flavors are making a comeback. There's one fall flavor that we're extra excited about: apple cider donuts. The local bakeries, orchards and farm markets in and near Madison offer some of the best apple cider donuts in Wisconsin. We've got you covered with the go-to spots to find apple cider donuts this fall.

1. Schuster’s Farm

Just outside of Madison, you’ll find the beloved, family-owned Schuster’s Farm. Amongst the acres of family-friendly activities, their mouth-watering apple cider donuts will be waiting for you in the Bakery Barn. Visit the farm during their annual Fall Festival to pick pumpkins, venture through the corn maze and enjoy all the fall activities!

You can also find: So. Many. Fall. Flavors. The Bakery Barn has hot apple cider, fresh-baked cookies, gluten-free pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and locally-brewed coffee.

2. Enchanted Valley Acres

We all know and love a normal-sized donut, but what about mini apple cider donuts? These are a fan favorite with the little ones and can be found in the concessions area at Enchanted Valley Acres, a go-to destination for all the fall family fun!

You can also find: Two giant slides, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, giant pumpkin jump pads, wagon rides and acres of activities.

3. Level 5 Donuts

Level 5 Donuts are made fresh in Madison and are 100% vegan. Oh, and they’re DELICIOUS. Starting off as a food truck, Level 5 Donuts now has a storefront located on Atwood Avenue, on Madison's near east side, offering a variety of rotating flavored donuts. Trust us, you will not want to miss out on their seasonal, mulled cider donut.

You can also find: Level 5 Donuts in local coffee shops, including Broken Board Coffee and Ledger Coffee Roasters in Garver Feed Mill.

4. Madison Chocolate Company

Along with homemade chocolates and specialty coffee and tea drinks, Madison Chocolate Company has a 100% gluten-free bakery—and all their baked goods are 100% delicious. In the fall, you can likely find apple cider donuts at either of their locations.

You can also find: So many sweet and savory baked goods, made fully gluten-free! Every weekend, they serve GF waffles from 8 a.m. to noon, or until they sell out.

5. Sutter’s Ridge Farm

Celebrate the harvest season at Sutter’s Ridge Farm in Mount Horeb, WI, with their specialty apple cider donuts, made fresh every day. The smell of their homemade cider donuts frying in the bakery is impossible to resist. These beloved donuts can also be found at the Dane County Farmers’ Market on Saturdays in the heart of downtown Madison

You can also find: Homemade pumpkin bars and pumpkin pie. Both are must-tries.

6. Alpine Ridge Orchard

In the fall of 2019, Alpine Ridge Orchard added apple cider donuts to their list of delicious treats, and we’re so glad they did. Their fresh apple cider is one of the main ingredients and you can taste that they’re made with love. The farm is located in Brooklyn, WI, but during the fall, you can find their donuts at Brennan’s Market on Madison’s west side.

You can also find: More apple-based treats, including sliced caramel apples, apple pie and apple turnovers, plus a pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm animals and lots of fall fun!

7. Appleberry Farm

Appleberry Farm is a family-owned farm located in Cross Plains, focusing on pick-your-own apples and other fresh, delicious foods. Their apple cider donuts are made fresh on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and we must warn you…they are quite addicting. They tend to sell out by the end of each weekend, so get ‘em while you can!

You can also find: Fresh apple cider made from a blend of five or more apples, caramel apples, local honey, hard cider and more!

8. Eplegaarden

More than 40 years ago, as thousands of apple trees were being planted on this family-owned farm in Fitchburg, it was unknown that Eplegaarden would become a favorite fall destination for pumpkin and apple picking. Apple cider is blended fresh each week and used to make fresh donuts! These apple cider cake donuts are soft and sprinkled with cinnamon, leaving you wanting more.

You can also find: Farm-fresh honey, apple picking, pumpkins, goats and all things fall!

9. Eugster’s Farm Market

When fall rolls around, Orchard Days and the Fall Festival make Eugster’s Farm Market a must-visit. Among the pumpkin patches, farm animals, u-pick apples and other fall activities, the must-try apple cider donuts can be found in their farm market store.

You can also find: A little something for everyone. They sell seasonal produce, fresh-baked sweet treats, local honey, homemade jellies and jams, homemade pickles and more.
